Nairobi (Mathare), Kenya (2019)

The Panic Pavilion’s permanent location is now in Mathare, Nairobi.

Together with Arvet and UN-Habitat we have disassembled and transported the structure from the United Nations’s compound to one of Nairobi’s slums. The pavilion has been donated to the community and assembled with their help. It is now used as platform for public events, giving a new identity to the urban space.

The use of timber has introduced a simpler construction method and brought a safe public element to the community.

Children have been occupying the area since the very initial phases and the Pavilion is now named: Children’s Corner.
